Current implementations of TV distribution systems are based on the simultaneous broadcasting of content, therefore the network dimensioning needs to reflect the peak traffic situation. This is in particular relevant for multicast technologies like IPTV. Needless to say that this requirement creates a quite high cost burden for both, infrastructure investments and ooperational expenses.
vfree.tv resolves these issues by a completely individual distribution of content. Peak hour traffic engineering tasks are much more relaxed or even not required. By utilizing the statistical implications of a purely individual vfree.tv distribution concept much more cost-effective access- and IP backbone networks can be built.
